Why SUPERMODEL Megan Gale not to get acting roles?
SUPERMODEL Megan Gale has had mixed success in the movie business and the model/presenter says while her height has been a boon to her modelling career, it has cost her acting roles.
"I've come painfully close to getting some really good roles in some great films, but things like my height have stood in the way," she tells Confidential. "If I'm six foot (183cm) tall without shoes on, and the lead actor is 5'8 (172.5cm), it's not going to work."Gale made the comments while promoting a new season on Australia's Next Top Model, screening soon on Foxtel. She has reportedly been cast in the latest Mad Max instalment, Fury Road. I've sat down with my agents and asked: 'Tell me, why I almost got that role, but didn't? What did I do wrong?'
Sometimes it's down to really silly, trivial things like how you look."I know my particular look is very limiting in terms of the type of roles I can do. That's fine."Compared to the statuesque Gale, leading men in Hollywood are notoriously pint-sized.Emilio Estevez, Jason Alexander and Seth Green are 162.5cm.
Dustin Hoffman is only marginally taller at 165cm while Jack Black, Daniel Radcliffe and Woody Allen all stand a diminutive 167.5cm. Superstars in the 170cm league include Al Pacino and Tom Cruise. However, despite Gale's claims her towering height has left her short-changed in the movie business there are some equally tall actresses who have managed to navigate their way through Tinseltown's diminutive leading men. Brooke Shields stands at a famously statuesque 183cm, as does Uma Thurman, Sigourney Weaver, England's Saffron Burrowes and Danish actress Famke Janssen.
EYEBROWS were raised in theatre circles yesterday with two magazine reports putting Lisa McCune and her South Pacific leading man Teddy Tahu Rhodes at the heart of a cheating scandal. Both New Idea and Woman's Day featured details of the alleged tryst, with the latter publishing snaps of the two actors in a very public embrace in Paddington
despite the fact both are married, with McCune renewing her wedding vows to husband Tim Disney only two years ago. Rhodes, however, is believed to have recently separated
from his second wife. So far there has been no official word from any of the interested parties, nor from Opera Australia, which yesterday declined to comment on the reports. However some light is expected to be shed when McCune and Rhodes set to face the media next Monday during the Brisbane leg of the South Pacific promotional tour.
