Veena's real name is Zahida. Later her family began calling her Veena. Her legal notice to the magazine also bears her name as Zahida. Whether she posed in her birthday suit or not for a men's magazine, may have put Veena Malik in the spotlight. But the Pakistani starlet has certainly revealed much more by dashing off a legal notice asking for 10 crore as damages.
Interestingly, her legal notice states that she is residing in Bandra and the address is the same as that of Ashmit Patel's abode! Also, her nude snapshots did the rounds around the same time as her photo shoot for her new reality show's launch. Controversy and publicity go hand-in-hand.
She denied posing nude for FHM magazine.
And to prove she is telling the truth, Veena Malik is now taking legal action, suing the popular Indian men's magazine for millions of dollars. The Pakistani actress is accusing it of publishing photos she says were doctored, after the racy photoshoot in the December issue triggered.
In a photo posted on the FHM website, Malik is shown wearing no clothing, but with her arms and legs discreetly positioned to keep her covered. Her lawyer, Ayaz Bilawala, denied the photo was authentic. He sent notice to the magazine and was filing papers in the Mumbai High Court demanding all copies of the magazine be removed from newsstands, he said.
The suit was also seeking 100 million rupees, $2million, in damages.'She has been cheated, and there has been tampering, and the photographs have been morphed. She has not posed in the manner in which she has been shown.'
Source says that, "Veena has been staying in Bandra which belongs to Ashmit. It is clear that he has been a great source of support to her in every move she has made in India ."Ever since Ashmit and Veena bonded in a reality show in which they appeared as lovebirds and continued their relationship even after the show, there has been a great deal of speculation about them.Though the starlet has
maintained that he was special, she has now agreed to be part of a reality show to find a prospective hubby a show in which the participants don't actually tie the knot.Adds the source, "Whether she really marries or not is to be seen. But in the past, Rakhi Sawant and Ratan Rajput-marriages on the show ended up only as engagements meant to be broken."While the mag front, Veena maintains in her legal notice that there were no nude photographs taken nor was there any video shots taken of her in the nude. However, the magazine folk state that they have video evidence of the shoot.
Veena remained unavailable for comment.
Maha Amin, senior sub-editor of The Express Tribune’s Life & Style pages, discusses Veena Malik’s claims that the cover of For Him Magazine (FHM) is a fake.Malik has filed for monetary damages against FHM to the sum of Indian Rs100,000,000 following their release of two magazine covers featuring the diva naked.Amin says the blatant ISI references are a publicity stunt owned by Malik herself, adding that even in a bikini with a grenade in her mouth, the photo shoot was bound to cause an uproar. The nudity aspect of the scandal being a publicity stunt seems like a far fetched idea, Amin adds.
Whatever the case, the nude covers have garnered ample attention for the little known FHM magazine along with press for the Pakistani actor as well.
